James Charles graduated from the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Music majoring in Violin performance. He played for 4 years with the WA Arts Orchestra and spent 18 months as resident violinist at the Burswood Resort, after which he spent two years in London exploring his interest in contemporary chamber music with the Martinu Ensemble and the Australis Ensemble.

He is in constant demand as a freelance violinist and is a full-time violin specialist with the Education Department. James conducts orchestras at Shenton College, Mt Lawley SHS and Carine SHS. He arranges the music that Tres Classique performs and produced their CD “Paradiso”.
